The Art Studio Mission
The studio was founded on the mission of providing art to artists of all ages and abilities within our local community & as far as we can travel. Art has the ability to provoke laughter and thought, to challenge and push, to encourage and uplift, and most importantly – to bring people together.
Nancy founded The Art Studio as a way to share her gift of art. At The Art Studio, she offers a place where people in our community — all ages and abilities — can get together and make art. Nancy holds more than 20 years of teaching experience. She brings a positive and creative spirit to The Art Studio, and she has a gentle, effective
way of encouraging and supporting artists.

Where it All Began
The story of The Art Studio begins back in February 2012 when the founder, Nancy, saw the potential of transforming a little blue house into a creative space for all. With a leap of faith ( and the help of many important people along the way ) the Lansing studio was lovingly restored + reimagined, making sure anyone who stepped foot inside those four walls would feel at home. Nancy and her team spent 8 creative years in this space working with artists of all ages + abilities. In the summer of 2020, Nancy made the decision to close this chapter of the studio and begin a new chapter as an "Art On The Go" business with a focus on off-site programming.
Where it Continues
While the chapter of the Lansing studio comes to a close, a new, exciting chapter begins. The Art Studio is being restructured as a fully off-site, "traveling art business" of sorts that continues to carry out Nancy's original mission of providing art + creative opportunities across our local community. We will now offer off-site programming of public events, private parties, and educational classes (more on this later). So, join us for a public Paint Night at your favorite local businesses + book a private party to celebrate your special occasion!
SPECIAL THANKS
The Lansing studio space was filled with special memories for The Art Studio team. We’ve watched doubting hands of novice artists grow in confidence after just one class. We’ve helped both young and grown artists celebrate special occasions with loved ones. We’ve hosted reunions of friends whose busy schedules and distance apart limited their ability to spend time together. We’ve shared milestone moments with many. We’ve experimented, built, laughed, challenged, smiled, problem-solved, encouraged, and – most importantly – created with all of you. Throughout these collective experiences, ART was the catalyst that brought us together.
We’re endlessly grateful for all of the artists who supported our Lansing studio space and helped transform this little blue house into a creative home for the community. Though our physical studio space may be closed, we plan to continue working with both fresh & familiar faces during this new stage as a small business. As some changes will take place, art + creativity remain at the root of our mission.
So, the story of The Art Studio is far from finished; we’re just writing a new chapter.
